Our first session

Our first session gives us an opportunity to meet and find out whether we feel we can work together.
I will be interested in finding out more about you and what brings you to therapy at this point in your life, and exploring with you what you hope to gain. I may ask you about your family history and key events in your life as well as what is happening now. You can also ask me about me and the ways in which I work, and we can address any concerns you may have about psychotherapy and counselling. By the end of this session we should be able to decide together the best way forward.

Weekly sessions

I offer both open-ended and fixed-term psychotherapy and counselling, on a weekly basis. Sessions are 50 minutes long, and usually take place at the same time and place each week. This time is especially reserved for you. It is important to attend regularly, to maintain a sense of safety and continuity. Therapy can bring up painful and uncomfortable feelings and these can be addressed and worked through in our sessions. Through counselling and therapy we can learn more about who we are and understand the choices that have led us to where we are today so that we can begin to make new choices and become more of who we would like to be.
